Alex & Dan’s Pre-Wedding Shoot – On The Beach
We’ve always offered our clients a pre-wedding shoot (also known as an engagement or e-shoot). It’s a great, fun way for us to get to know our couples and for couples to enjoy the experience of being photographed together. It’ll often be the first time they’ve done this, so naturally some start a little nervous and unsure of what to expect – but by the end of the short session, they’re loving it.
They’re delighted with the resulting pictures and often give prints as gifts to family or themselves! Many use an image from this shoot as part of their wedding stationery or as a ‘Signature Frame’ for all of their wedding guests to sign with messages of love.
The best result though is that on their wedding day they know that they can relax and enjoy themselves, safe in the knowledge that we’ll be capturing fun, natural and relaxed pictures.
Alex and Dan are being married later this month. We’d met them both previously when we photographed Alex’s sister’s wedding. Now it’s their turn! We had a fun afternoon with them, chatting over coffee and hearing all about Alex & Dan’s plans for their wedding day. We then all went for a walk around the grounds at our studio and onto a beach, which holds great significance and fond memories for both of them.
Alex’s flawless makeup is by Lucy Gourlay of LG Makeup. Here are a few of the resulting pictures….

Jen & James’ Wedding & Reception – Hopetoun House
Jen & James’ wedding at Hopetoun House was a colourful Scottish & Welsh fusion with dragons in abundance. It was great fun from start to finish. Our studio is based in a converted stable, attached to Hopetoun House, so we know the house and the grounds extremely well. We see it in all weathers, at all times of year and have photographed weddings for 2 people to over 200 people. On Jen & James’ wedding day the weather was glorious.

All the floral splendour was supplied by Planet Flowers and Jen wore a Caroline Castigliano gown.

Jen & James chose a beautiful Humanist Ceremony, conducted by Juliet Wilson of The Humanist Society of Scotland.

James’ brothers provided some unique entertainment during the ceremony by singing their version of ”I Rely on you” by Hovis Presley.

Jen’s niece was their flower girl, but wasn’t too keen to accept the offer of a kiss from her paige boy cousin….

Fabulous food, including the tasty canapés were created by Heritage Portfolio, and the incredible cake by Truly Scrumptious Designer Cakes. A real treat for all was provided by James’ Granny who wasn’t able to be at the wedding, so she sent her recipe for Welsh Cakes – they were delicious!

The evening closed with rousing sounds of tribal pipes and drums from (the slightly scary looking) Clanadonia.

Jen & James, all their guests and us had a fantastic time on what was a perfect day…… A&J x

Nina & Russell’s Wedding – Gleneagles & Muthill {Part II}
Here at last (sorry been a busy couple of months!) is the second part of Nina & Russell’s wedding day story. Thanks to all of the feed-back on part one. Part two has less words and more (and bigger) pictures as requested!
And as promised, there’s lots of feathers, crystals, stars and glitter ….
Nina likes things that sparkle!
We enjoyed an evening stroll in the grounds of Gleneagles and around the iconic fountain.
The photo booth was VERY popular…
More glitter was in abundance for Nina & Russell’s first dance.
Later in the evening, high-tea was served….mmmm!
Which kept everyones energy levels up for more dancing!
The end of an amazing wedding day.
Thanks to Nina & Russell for all their hard work in creating such a perfect day – it was a joy for us to photograph. A & J x
And today we received this beautiful note from Nina & Russell – so the final word goes to them:
“Dear Alan & Jackie
Thank you so much for the amazing photos of our wedding. You managed to completely capture the mood of the day and you took so many brilliant pictures of us and our guests that it was a total struggle to try and decide which ones should go in our album! You made us feel really relaxed and comfortable throughout the day and just blended into the background so that at times we forgot that we were even being photographed! We just can’t thank you enough.
We will treasure the photos forever and would not hesitate in recommending you to everyone we know!
Russell & Nina x”
Nina & Russell’s Wedding – Gleneagles & Muthill {Part I}
Thanks to everyone who emailed and commented on our 1st blog post. It seemed to create quite a lot of interest which was very pleasing. So to our 2nd post…the first part of an amazing day:
Nina & Russell put so much time and effort into planning their wedding celebrations and it all paid off beautifully. They were assisted by wedding planner extraordinaire Joann Scott as well as the brilliant Jennifer and the entire events team at Gleneagles….
Jackie joined Nina & the girls whilst they prepared in the Blue Tower Suite at Gleneagles….
Nina’s dress was created for her by Pronovias of Barcelona and her Bridesmaids’ & Flower girl’s dresses by Isabelle Randall …
Alan was in Russell’s suite, capturing the gents’ preparations…
Nina’s Dad looked so proud…
Nina & Russell’s wedding ceremony was held in the nearby Muthill Parish Church . Rev. Ross’ ceremony was beautiful, touching and entertaining and he kindly allowed us to discreetly, quietly (and using only natural light) photograph the entire proceedings. So many, many thanks to him. The whole day was expertly and unbotrusively fimed by Steve & Stuart of Design Scotland Video.
The church was decorated by Gleneagles in-house florist team and Carnival Chaos Productions – including drapes that incorporated real roses! Guests were greeted by Denny & Dunipace Pipe Band lining the entrance to the church.
Whilst Nina & Russell’s guests returned to Gleneagles, we took a walk with the newlyweds around the grounds.
Just before heading back to the party we were joined by the bridesmaids and flowergirl…
Part II of Nina & Russell’s wondeful day, including feathers, crystals, stars and glitter follows soon!
