Alex & Dan’s Pre-Wedding Shoot – On The Beach

2

We’ve always offered our clients a pre-wedding shoot (also known as an engagement or e-shoot). It’s a great, fun way for us to get to know our couples and for couples to enjoy the experience of being photographed together.  It’ll often be the first time they’ve done this, so naturally some start a little nervous and unsure of what to expect – but by the end of the short session, they’re loving it.

They’re delighted with the resulting pictures and often give prints as gifts to family or themselves! Many use an image from this shoot as part of their wedding stationery or as a ‘Signature Frame’ for all of their wedding guests to sign with messages of love.

The best result though is that on their wedding day they know that they can relax and enjoy themselves, safe in the knowledge that we’ll be capturing fun, natural and relaxed pictures.

Alex and Dan are being married later this month. We’d met them both previously when we photographed Alex’s sister’s wedding. Now it’s their turn! We had a fun afternoon with them, chatting over coffee and hearing all about Alex & Dan’s plans for their wedding day. We then all went for a walk around the grounds at our studio and onto a beach, which holds great significance and fond memories for both of them.

Alex’s flawless makeup is by Lucy Gourlay of LG Makeup. Here are a few of the resulting pictures….

Jen & James’ Wedding & Reception – Hopetoun House

Jen & James’ wedding at Hopetoun House was a colourful Scottish & Welsh fusion with dragons in abundance. It was great fun from start to finish. Our studio is based in a converted stable, attached to Hopetoun House, so we know the house and the grounds extremely well. We see it in all weathers, at all times of year and have photographed weddings for 2 people to over 200 people. On Jen & James’ wedding day the weather was glorious.

All the floral splendour was supplied by Planet Flowers and Jen wore a Caroline Castigliano gown.

We enjoyed an evening stroll in the grounds of Gleneagles and around the iconic fountain.

The photo booth was VERY popular…

More glitter was in abundance for Nina & Russell’s first dance.

The end of an amazing wedding day.

Thanks to Nina & Russell for all their hard work in creating such a perfect day – it was a joy for us to photograph. A & J x

And today we received this beautiful note from Nina & Russell – so the final word goes to them:

“Dear Alan & Jackie

Thank you so much for the amazing photos of our wedding. You managed to completely capture the mood of the day and you took so many brilliant pictures of us and our guests that it was a total struggle to try and decide which ones should go in our album! You made us feel really relaxed and comfortable throughout the day and just blended into the background so that at times we forgot that we were even being photographed! We just can’t thank you enough.

We will treasure the photos forever and would not hesitate in recommending you to everyone we know!

Russell & Nina x”

Thanks to everyone who emailed and commented on our 1st blog post. It seemed to create quite a lot of interest which was very pleasing. So to our 2nd post…the first part of an amazing day:

Nina & Russell put so much time and effort into planning their wedding celebrations and it all paid off beautifully. They were assisted by wedding planner extraordinaire Joann Scott as well as the brilliant Jennifer and the entire events team at Gleneagles….

Nina & Russell’s wedding ceremony was held in the nearby Muthill Parish Church . Rev. Ross’ ceremony was beautiful, touching and entertaining and he kindly allowed us to discreetly, quietly (and using only natural light) photograph the entire proceedings. So many, many thanks to him. The whole day was expertly and unbotrusively fimed by Steve & Stuart of Design Scotland Video.

The church was decorated by Gleneagles in-house florist team and Carnival Chaos Productions – including drapes that incorporated real roses! Guests were greeted by Denny & Dunipace Pipe Band lining the entrance to the church.

Siobhán & David’s Wedding

Every blog must have its first post and this is ours. What a wedding to start with!

Siobhán & David were married in the George Hotel in the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town. We were very flattered to be asked to photograph their wedding. Siobhán will be well known to anyone in the wedding world in Scotland as she’s part of the fantastic team at one of our favourite venues, Dundas Castle. So she’s seen the work of many, many wedding photographers. Some of our photos of the wedding made it onto Dundas’ own news pages. As always, Jackie started the day with the girls whilst they had their hair styled and make-up applied. Make-up was by top make-up adviser Lucy Gourlay of LG Makeup. The preparations are one of Jackie’s favourite times of the day and are a great opportunity to photograph the fun, the anticipation and some the details. Siobhán’s & her Bridesmaid Laura’s bouquets were created by Planet Flowers as were the gents’ button-holes, ladies’ corsages and all of the floral decor of the ceremony and reception.  The girls’ bespoke, embroidered dressing gowns were created by My Big Sister.

And Alan met up with David, his Best Man and ushers. { Siobhán & David later told us  ….” we loved seeing the photos of each other preparing for the big day.”}

Siobhán’s proud Father said he wanted to show off his daughter to the world, so they took a wee tour around the Edinburgh New Town before heading to The George where David and all the guests had gathered.

Edinburgh Wedding

Their ceremony was a touching, personal and fun one, performed by Humanist Celebrant Ivan Middelton. Siobhán & David had each a little surprise in the vows they had one another declare. David was to allow Siobhán to continue to add to her substantial shoe collection and Siobhán had to promise that David could buy as many guitars as his heart desired.

After their ceremony Siobhán & David went for a walk around Queen Street Gardens. We always recommend that couples take a few minutes out after their ceremony for some quiet time together. It also gives us an opportunity to capture some great images of the two of them. So often couples tell us that this was their favourite time of the day and results in some of their most treasured pictures too.

Wedding Photographers Edinburgh

We were there to capture all of the fun of the drinks reception, the speeches, the dancing and the unveiling of the incredible candy bar. This, along with all the details of the day were planned by Siobhán & David with the professional assistance of Joann of Joann Scott Weddings. Joann’s attention to detail ensured that entire day looked beautiful and ran smoothly, which left Siobhán & David worry free to enjoy and look beautiful themselves.

Edinburgh Scotland Wedding Photographer

Our sincere thanks to Siobhán & David for asking us to be a part of their wedding celebrations and for allowing us to share their pictures on our new blog. We only ever publish pictures with the couples permission and only after they’ve  had the wonderful experience of a personal viewing at our studio, where they’ll be the first to see their pictures from the entire day.  A&J…

The final words of this first blog post come from Siobhán & David themselves….

“There were no other photographers that we would have wanted to share our day with. We’ve always felt that our other than our memories, our photographs are all that we have left from our wedding.

Our album captured the biggest day of our lives perfectly, it’s amazing. We absolutely love it and can happily say we’re beyond delighted. We’re so proud to show it off. Thank you both for all of your hard work”
